The Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) is a large, hardy fern known for its tall, lacy, feather-like fronds and aggressive spreading habit, making it excellent for naturalizing in damp, shady woodland or stream bank settings. While deer-resistant, it requires consistent moisture to thrive and can become a dominant plant in gardens, where it also produces edible "fiddlehead" shoots in early spring.
