A very unique coniferous evergreen in color and form, when young, the Howell's Dwarf Tigertail Spruce forms a wide flat-topped shrub with ascending branches, however eventually develops a central leader forming an upright pyramidal tree 15 to 20 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide. If you'd rather keep it as a shrub simply remove the leader when it begins to grow. What's really most unusual and unique about this cultivar is the bicolor foliage and brilliantly colored cones. The needled leaves emerge a bright green maturing to a darker blue-green on top with sparkling, silvery baby-blue undersides.
